    Cold Sheets

Cold sheets wrapped around my satin skin.
    Quietly laying here remembering when...

With the window open and the fragrant night air floating all around.
I remember countless nights in your arms, tightly bound.

Your breath on my neck, your hand on my face
Insisting that we both found the right place.

The feel of your heat, the smell of your skin, those perfect brown eyes,
Without any of this, pieces of me would have surely already died.

I know I should move on. Forget and let it all go.
But when picturing everything I have ever dreamed of, I just don't have the strength to make it so..

The hollowness strips away any and all of my fading desire,
But the hole in my chest is still aching for that fire.

So instead, I'll keep your memory safe in my heart and in my mind.
Wrapped in cold sheets, I now lay here blind.

I could really feel this poem...nice work Marta. Jerry

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
