Cheated

Cheated

My thoughts exhaust me,
Like hoboes on a freight train.
No right to be here,
But here just the same.
My only choice
To cheat my way out of my fare.
To him, a loss;
But he doesn't know
That the price has already been exacted
In hearts and bones.

Love the way you balance the journey of lost love with a train ride. Wonderful imagery and put together so nicely. Thank you for sharing this with us here at OP and think I spot another talented poet in the house *Bravo* keep writing you do it very well

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
