can you be a friend
can you hold me and not control me?
can you caress me without undressing me?
can i give you my heart, without fear you'll tear it apart?
will moments we share together, be moments we treasure,
or will it only be for physical pleasure?
Can you be a friend?
can we share a sunrise, looking deep into each others eyes?
holding to each others hand, and doing our best to understand?
will you give of yourself, will you be there when i need help?
or will you just run to someone else, and never commit to the final step?
Can you be a friend?
can we talk without saying whose at fault?
can you lay down your pride, and be strong enough to apologize?
are you willing to forgive and forget, or just remember our love with heartache and regret?
Can you be a friend?
no greater love can ever be so sound,
as the friend in Jesus I have found,
and I am asking you can you be a friend,
just as true?
