    Poem Commentary

I have always believed that butterflies are free. Now I know better of course and realize that an effort comes to capture one which really should be a sin because it is not the butterfly itself that is free, it is its graceful beauty.

    Butterflies Balat

    WHISPY DOTS AROUND THE CAROUSEL,
    HEADS HELD HIGH
FANNING LIKE A BREATH OF COLORFUL
STARS, THEY GLITSEN AND GRACE THE
    SKY
    OPEN WINDOWS DIRECTLY FORESHADOW
AND THERE ARE TWO WHO TOUCH EACH
OTHER, UPWARD THEY FLY BEHIND THE
    RAINBOW, BLENDING INTO TEXTURES
    THAT BALANCE
    MAJESTIC WHISKERS POINT FORWARDLY
    CHANGING NOTHING FROM POSITION
AS COLORS BOUNCE IN HARMONY, DANCING
    AND PRANCING IN A SYMPHONY
SILOUETTE KISSES FROM TIME TO TIME
WITH TENDER DIPS THAT WALTZ AND TOSS
    ATTEMPTING REST WHILE FINDING ITS
PLACE, TINTING THE BARK UPON THE
    TREES
WHERE IT HIDES UNTIL IT AWAKES TO
OPEN THE CURTAIN OF COLORFUL MOTION
AND SO, AGAIN THE SHOW BEGINS, AND
    THEY DANCE!
