    BrokenHearted

    Feel my heart
    I think it's broken.
I'm not sure when it happened.
It's not beating like it used to,
    Like it's supposed to.
    Maybe it can be fixed.
A heart with a scar or two is not so bad.
I don't mind if its' a little worn
As long as it still works.

    Feel my heart
    I think it's broken.
Damaged by a lifetime of poor choices,
Of wearing it on my sleeve instead of protecting it.
    Taking too many chances
    On that road less traveled.
I was never afraid to live out loud,
Or to live in the moment.
After all, "now" is the only sure thing.

But what do I know ?
    My heart is broken.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
