A little angel comes to God
And asks for the love of a Mother.
God searches to find a woman
    With Love enough to share.

I am grateful that when you asked
He found me to be your Mother.
I was blessed with the honor
Of giving you life and Motherly love.

    Nine months I carried you
    Nourishing and protecting your development
    Bringing you into this world
And continuing to nourish and protect you.

My heart was filled with such joy
The first time I looked into your eyes
Your tiny fingers holding on tight
You looked up and smiled at me.

    What pleasures you gave me
    What challenges to overcome
My knowledge growing as I taught you
I learned what real LOVE is.

Four years I taught you to be a little girl
Then with the help of your school teachers
We taught you to read and write,
And a beautiful young lady developed.

Now you’re a woman my dear
No longer my little girl child
May you one day be blessed by God
To be the Mother of a new little angel.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
