Both Sides of the Story
Both Sides of the Story

They say that when we leave this earth that people go to one of 3 places
That is heaven, hell or in between, which is place called purgatory
So I guess you can say that I am going there today to give you both sides of the same story
In the beginning when they met she wouldn’t give him the time of day because he was a thug who drank excessively and stayed in the streets
When he tried to holla she would keep it moving like he wasn’t even there and wouldn’t miss a beat
He tried and tired, again and again. Even though he knew she was a friend of a friend
From his understanding the friend didn’t care because he had a lot of chicks
Also, he thought she would never give in, so for him it was something to do for kicks
When the friends’ game got busted things got worse
You never know how a woman or girl will react one she has been hurt
So what attracted her to me or did I forget to mention
That when the friend left her hanging he was the only one to pay her close attention
He told her things to ease her mind
He made her laugh to keep her from crying
In the end, he knew what he was doing
Because sooner or later, they ended up screwing
By young player rules it was supposed to be a fling
A friend of a friend, you know, a onetime thing
He thought they were through and that was that
But soon after, a little birdie brought a message back
In the message it implied that she wanted to be more than just friends
So the young man was like “Cool, Fuck it. As long as we can have sex again.”
Although this whole situation made him somewhat curious
He never had plans for it to turn into something so serious
So they had been together a while, maybe a couple of months
They kicked it like homies, got drunk in the theatre, went to the park and smoked on blunts
He treated her like a lady and to her that was so odd
One of the only niggas from the hood that kept a steady job
During this time he slept with another woman, a chick from the past
He didn’t think it was a big deal because he was not in love with her yet, nor did he think the relationship would last
He got into a financial bond with his whip and no help was there
She gave up her whole paycheck just to show that she care
That was the day he fell in love
It was no longer about just him, but all about them
She had him hooked off her actions that day he must admit
See this guy was a loner, not used to anybody doing for or giving him shit
Since he loved he told her about the past to get the skeleton out the closet
So she signed the check, forgave him, even let him do a direct deposit
He assumed that all was well and thought they would grow and move on
But that was right around the time all of the problems started to come along
See he thought she forgave him, but she didn’t forget
So when he told him she cheated that part he could get
What frustrated him was her change of plan
She came back a day later saying she never had sex with another man
He could move on if she did is what he tried to explain
But what he really didn’t like was all the bullshit and games
He didn’t like to be rude, he somewhat modest
But his best quality was that he was honest
They put that problem in the freezer and made sure it stayed froze
Everything was cool until the next problem arose
He cheated and she cheated both in the same night
He did it because he thought she was already doing it, his make intuition was right
He forgave again because he blamed himself for what had went wrong
He had been stressing out for no reason, starting physical fights at home
The door was wide open; she could have left if she pleased
But she decided to stay and this kept him at ease
Neither one of them were perfect
This they both could understand
When he lost his job, she didn’t make him feel like he was no less of a man
She still treated him like a man because dinner was made every day, just waiting for him to eat
When they didn’t have any food, she didn’t complain, they ate noodles and gravy for 2 weeks
She knew he had too much pride to ask for help
She let him take his own time to put his pride up on the shelf
When things got worse and there was too much to lose
He took them to the church and got them some food
Things got somewhat better but he never forgot about that situation
He promised her some things and made his proclamation
He promised her a wedding one day at a church of choice, like anywhere
He promised her that he would never leave and for her, he would always be there
He made good on some promises and pushed loved ones to the side
All he cared about was making her happy because she was the apple of his eye
Yet they still had their trials and fights
He would never forget what happened that night
He started an argument over nothing; she fought him back like a man
Since he could not reach her, he threw an aerosol can
He threw it at an intense moment with his intentions only to scare
Never expecting it to make contact or reach way over there
The aftermath was bloody; you could see the damage from a far
Every since that day here face bore a painful scar
It would probably been easier on him if then; she would have left him alone
Instead of calling the police she made him come to the hospital, then allowed him back home
Sometimes he cried at night before he said his grace
Asked the Lord, “Why did you allow me to mess up her beautiful face?”
He also asked Him, “Why do you let me keep her? Is this punishment to me?”
For him to have to look her in the eyes everyday and see what he has done to thee
He appreciated her forgiving ways and decided to take a stand
Every since that incident there wasn’t any more fighting, for he was a changed man
Some things in life change you and some help you grow
That doesn’t mean that you will not reap what you sew
As things got better there was a good time in the segment
They tried and they tried, then she finally got pregnant
He had to step his game up, being a father was a big deal, he had to do things right
He told himself he couldn’t procrastinate now because he was responsible for someone else’s’ life
He felt like they grew closer but in the hood they just couldn’t make it
So to get away they agreed he would enlist in the service, then he left for basic
He never thought of it as serving his country or putting his life on the line
In his mind he thought, “I’m doing this here, to provide a better life for me and mine.”
They told him his life was at risk but it never stressed him out or gave him a grey hair
He was used to niggas dying, so he really didn’t care
Basic training was hard as hell; it challenged the body and mind
He woke up at 3a.m to clean the bay and by 5 he would toe the line
Some quit because they couldn’t hang, but him, he kept on trying
He just thought about his wife and kid and forced himself to keep grinding
Later during basic, in his gut, he felt something was wrong
Then he came to find out that she had been cheating all along
It hurt him deep inside and it was somewhat scary
He thought he didn’t have to worry about that because they were just married
Everybody talked about her and told him he should leave
But he thought about the things he did wrong, like put the scar on her and he also wanted to make it work for his seed
He just couldn’t imagine leaving his child without a father
He knew that he had to grow up that way and it had him bothered
He didn’t retaliate or cheat on her this time, he decided to make immense
He took them both when he left, in hopes that they could start all over again
The change was nice and things were good
They had a nice place far away from the hood
But for what the service gave him they both knew it would take back
So when the time came he went and did his job in Iraq
He thought she would be glad when he came back so she wouldn’t be alone
But by this time she was homesick and persistent on going home
He didn’t want her to leave and asked her to stay
But came to realize, that if a bird wants to be, then you must let it fly away
So when she left it hurt like a knife in the heart
The family he had was now torn apart
Now even though it crushed him when she left, he still hoped for her to be happy
He then thought to himself that maybe it was too late to make up for some of the things in their relationship that happened
But as I stated earlier, it’s just like purgatory
See there are 2 sides to every story
So no dispute occurs and no problems arise
I just wanted you to see the story from the outside, looking in on both sides
