9/11
SEPTEMBER 11th
September 11th, 2007 4:24pm
It has been six years since the planes hit on 9/11.
Life has moved on and our ships are still sailing.
It’s a crazy thing what happened you see.
Because no one was prepared for this tragedy.
I still remember waking up and seeing the planes run through the towers, it looked like something out of a movie.
Once I realized that it was reality my heart dropped, truly.
I said truly this could not be happening to us, we are the big, bad USA.
But somebody stole our spotlight, because we are not so big and bad today.
We still pulled through, although a lot of people died.
Blessings must come in disguise because we also had some that survived.
So six years later what has changed, what is our nations’ demeanor?
Well what is just as bad as 9/11 to me, is that we bullshitted when it came time to get our people out of Hurricane Katrina.
Six years later tell me what we have learned.
Is the penny that we are saving, the one that is really earned?
I’m not one to complain but it just seems funny.
That after 9/11 I thought we would help ourselves, but we have been helping other countries.
The security at the airport has heightened, and I am very understanding of this.
We might be sending soldiers to Iraq forever as long as terrorism exists.
And as long as there is oil over there then there is money to be made.
Just don’t blame the soldiers, because they are working men and women that probably have families to raise.
I learned a lot of things since the planes hit, even some in my own time.
Things may seem like they are OK, when they really are not fine.
I will never forget 9/11 as long as I’m breathing.
Because the lives that were lost should all still be breathing.
But their lives were taken from them in a place where they should have been safe.
What can I say; the world is not a perfect place.
So what can we do to make sure that 9/11 is not just a waste?
Never forget and try to continue to make this, our country, a safer place.
