    Blood Red Roses

    Blood Red Roses

    Ahh…roses… how lovely…such a sweet sentiment…so
    Beautiful, deep and red.
After all, how does the saying go?
    ‘Roses are red…etc’
I need not say more, and I agree roses are
    Red……………….
    Blood Red!

    As for that sweet sentiment……
Have we not forgotten ’bout those thorns?
    Thorns that inflict pain
    Thorns that cut…
    Causing us to bleed and…
    Blood to flow…
Coloring those ‘lovely’ ’sweet’ roses red…
    Blood Red.

    So send me no roses…
    I don’t need the pain.
Your thorns cutting and thrashing me to bits
    Again and again.
    Blood flowing relentlessly
    Weakening my soul
    Making me unable to fight
And having no will to bandage the wounds
    From your…
    Blood Red Roses!

amberain, This is an anti-redrose poem. WOW seems like someone uses them to get on another;s good graces...anyhow very powerful and certainly sends the message that a blood red rose can be dangerous. ginga

sorry this is delayed. Just goes to show you, although sweet and beautiful...all things can hurt.

sweet, i love the flow. yes indeed, i've been thinking for a long time that roses, even they are beautiful, yet its thorns have venom that could hurt us.

Annie, funny how that works in life. Could be the sweetest thing on earth but can still hurt.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
