    Birthday?Who's Birthday?

    Another birthday another year,
I feel sort of down or is it uncheer?
The cake was great, it now sits on my hips
You know what they say about past the lips!

I look in the mirror, the lines that life has given to me,
I guess I should be glad, after all, they are free.
I look at my bottom and a sigh of Oh Well,
If cellulite was a bargin, I would have a world sell.

I run my fingers through my hair, ohhh it is bout one third grey,
I never thought I would ever see this day.
I run to the store and pick a color I have never been before,
Now grey hair zero, red hair a grand slam, Great Score.

My waist, well I know I had one ONCE, I am almost sure
But the exercise I want to do,,,well it is not a guarenteed cure,
And my memory, well thank goodness for post its, that is a given,
But it is  irritating when I fotget the code I used when it was written.

I just want to say that all in all life has been a blessing,
And the memories, they are life's dressing.
My Next birthday , maybe I will forget the date ,
Did You ever notice we get slower ,time moves at a  faster rate ?

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
