    Better Because of You

    Better Because of You

Searched and searched for you again
Looked and looked for my old friend.
Over the years I wondered of you
Then one day, out of the blue.

    Found your face
    On the World Wide Web.
    Stared at your picture,
Matched the one in my head.

The one that I took with the camera
    Of my heart.
    The mental snap shot
    From last we part.

How could it be so many years?
How could it be that happy tears
Of long ago could still be there
Could bring back memories of times we shared?

You should know what you meant to me,
That our time together is still with me
You were a friend that forever changed me,
Though you may have never known.

I’m better because I knew you then.
I’m better because of your smile.
I’m better because of our short time
And that you were a friend.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
