    Awakening

i sit around and play a tune on my guitar
thinking of harps played by angels afar
this world can leave a scar
    that's deeper than parted seas
the groove of the band soothes like the breeze
hear those trumpets play and saxes blow
feel the drums, bass, snare and congos
my heartbeat races and hips they sway
chimes they ting and clarinets play
oh i feel like dancing and singing along
i strums my fingers and pick to the song
i tap my feet and inhale the beat
i breathe out chords they sound so sweet
the club is jumpin and the partiers roaring
i'm tossin and turning at the sound of snoring
i must be dreaming the melody in my ears
is coming from somewhere way downstairs
i close my eyes and return to heaven
i awake to music...my alarm clock sings at seven
