autumn is here (revised)
autumn is here, but it feels more like winter
the cold wind gusts through the trees tearing them off their branches
leaves scatter across car windowshields and blanket the ground
pretty soon the wind will pick them back up onto the air
the same violent cycle happens again and again
i am a bird that has stayed behind from flying south for the winter
my wings are wounded, but i cannot feel the pain
they are numb from the chill this season has brought upon us all
i sit and wait
i ruffle my feathers to keep the cold from penetrating my being
i hope for a bit of sunlight to shine down from up above
bring me back to warmth
i will wait
i will hope
in time my wings will heal so that i may take up flight once again
...or even for the first time
flying is my reason for living
something can only become real if it is valued, understood and appreciated.
otherwise it is as if it never was
we need to experience the things that are so that we may learn and grow from them.
autumn is here, but it feels more like winter
the cold wind gusts through the trees tearing them off their branches
leaves scatter across car windowshields and blanket the ground
pretty soon the wind will pick them back up onto the air
the same violent cycle happens again and again
i am a bird that has stayed behind from flying south for the winter
my wings are wounded, but i cannot feel the pain
they are numb from the chill this season has brought upon us all
i sit and wait
i ruffle my feathers to keep the cold from penetrating my being
i hope for a bit of sunlight to shine down from up above
bring me back to warmth
i will wait
i will hope
in time my wings will heal so that i may take up flight once again
...or even for the first time
flying is my reason for living
