    Another Mother, Another Child

God gave me the gift, i'll never tarnish the shine,
an epidemic needs to be discussed at this time.
A terrible tragedy i need to address,
black men bringing black mothers undue stress.
The sad fact is that those who are dying by the gun,
are being killed by a man they may have greeted as son.
In the midst of describing the life the victim led,
the media forgets that another child's father is dead.
And with so many deserting, running around like circus clowns,
why kill the few with the strength to stick around?
This whole thing disgusts me, i just finished reading Roots,
and this is worse than dying under toubobs whips and boots.
Back then, kunta had solid reasons for distrusting whites,
now he'd live in fear of those as dark as night.
I'll never be a preacher, but i love my people to the core,
and i'm tired of knowing someone has to get a black suit from Moore's.
I could never look at a brother and just take his life,
what about his children, his mother and his wife?
What about the lifelong friends, co-workers at his job?
I would stop and think, does he have ties to the mob?

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.
