Against Hope

    Against Hope

We tossed and turned on thorns

    We fled and loved

When the rains came it put out the fires

But not the embers of love that burned

    in our hearts

we ran far and wide on empty hearts

    we raged and burned

never wanting to be turned from each other

but when the cold hand of separation pulled

we gave in knowing that tomorrow holds hope for a reunion

we hoped and wished on fortune

    we pushed and pulled

praying that the winds will carry us through

but when the tide turned and we drifted into each other’s arm

we realised that our best years are those we spent apart
