Adrain
i put you on the bus this morning
you are so big now
not the small baby i used to cradle
i remember when we knew you were coming
i listened to your heart beat
and the doctor asked what we were naming you
i say your name and she smiles
thats a name, thats a mans name
she said
and you become my little man
soon new names follow
sweet pea
stinky pea and then just stinky
you laugh at this
like all little boys do
but you are different
my addie, my stinky pea
when you were a baby
i held you and smelled the baby smell of you
you got older and the cat
got your first smile
and now you call me mommy
you say my name
something i never thought you would be able
to say
and i will love you
my stinky man, addieper sweet pea
until the earth is gone
until the planets burn up
i will always be mommy
