A Star At Night

A Star At Night

I saw a star outside last night.
That bathed the land in holy light.
I wondered why it's shinning there,
To show us all heavens fare.

I've never see it's like before,
The light is spread to tell us all,
A Soul is born this very night
To help mankind to see the light.

I hope to see that star once more,
To have it's light bathe the land,
And tell us if the task at hand
Empowered us as He had planed.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
