    A Question of Life

    The serenity of my life
    flows in and out like
    the tides of an ocean.
    I am searching for answers
    to life's mysteries, trying to
    hold this peace hostage.
Fearing what the future will bring.
    Is this life's essence or
    a dysfunction of the mind?
    A manic mood that comes
    with restlessness and goes
    with a solitary moment.
I am searching for that synonym
    of happiness.
Tha Utopia of the mind and
    await for another day.
Will this life ever be easy?
Or is this my soul's prison?

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
