A plan by George Maris

As each moment of each day passes, I recollect the decisions I made.
By nightfall Thoughts pass through me, like lightning in a storm, flashing before me as they fade.
I am encompassed by my failures and am overtaken with hardship.
What could I have done to avoid my down falls, how can I allow myself to slip?
As the night passes, I feel a sense of peace in knowing my bed becomes my comfort.
Tomorrow brings the morning light that shines like a candle in a dark room, a reminder of my gloom.
There is nothing more priceless than the peace it brings, pushing out and making room,
for that you cannot trade, knowing you can replace which was once taken away.
The rest and the solace and the price that you pay, is something to be remembered, so you don't fall again.
Time is always a factor in healing the pain but the moments you go through you can never regain.
So the next time you fall, brush yourself off and continue your journey, this time with a plan.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
