A Mother's Love

A Mother's Love

What does a sister do
when a brother says
I know Mom loved me
I can't recall her telling

The Spirit knows
a mothers song
still in a daughters heart
quiet but not forgotten

An Easter package sent
a stuffed bunny sings
the mothers song
with a card...
love, Mom, from, Sis

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
