A Life's Decision

Walk in, sit down and look around,
Not much else I wanna do but go Army bound.
I wanna go over seas and fight for my country, there's a
lot I can do and see.
The guys before us fought for the freedom, the freedom of
you and me.
The United States Army may or may not be my family
tradition, But it's a great decision and it'll
put me in great physical condition
Two of my buddies went in the Army and are happy with it;
What I don't understand is why other branches talk so
much trash and give others so much shit
I know the military will open up a lot of doors,
When I show I have Army experience, the opportunity just
soars.
I will learn all Army values and learn to run, have
fun, shoot stuff, and fight.
The Army will show me values I really don't know, so I'll
see the light
It was one of those out of the blue choices; I wasn't
forced and didn't get a call
I just wanna live, have fun, and I'll do it all
My recruiter is a nice guy and talked to me a lot even
before I knew the Army was for me,
I figured I'd do what appeals to me and that's to fight
and be free
The Army has something they call the Soldier's Creed.
It's neat and shows no greed
They also have the Warrior Ethos and all at once it kind
of hits you, almost like thirst
Almost like the one that states
"I will always place the mission first."
The second goes with me not really liking the desert and
hating the heat,
But I'll overcome by saying the second one and that is,
"I will never accept defeat"
The third is sincere and in the United States Army
and it seems to really do fit
It states,
"I will never quit"
I love the last Warrior Etho, which makes some soldier's
sad and some soldier's glad
The line reads,
"I will never leave a fallen comrade."
When I enlist and start basic my mom may feel sorrow
Her and I both know I am here today but may be gone
tomorrow
I love my country and respect our armed services, and
will protect it from harm
I'm joining the army and will do just that, protect the US,
the people and serve my country in arms
All kidding aside, just be serious and real
The United States Army is for me and it's the real deal !
Soldiers Creed
I am the American Soldier
I am a warrior and a member of a team. I serve the people of the United States and live the ArmyValues
I will always place the mission the mission first
I will never accept defeat
I will never quit
I will never leave a fallen comrade
I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in My warrior tasks and drills.
I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself
I am an expert and I am a professional
I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy the enemies of the United States of America in close
combat
I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life
I am an American Soldier

i commend you on your committment and your Bravery...Thank You for the poem and your protection

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
