A Childs Cry

A Childs Cry

She begins to hit her children
Her anger is much too strong,
She knows it's not their fault
For they've done nothing wrong.

Still, she feels the need to hit them
It's the marks your'll clearly see,
She'll do to them what he did to her
That's how it's meant to be.

When her anger has calmed down
And she turns to walk away,
The scars that she has left behind
Will return again one day.

So she leaves her children frightened
She never tells them why,
And the only sound that's ever heard
Is that of a childs cry.

Horrific, but sadly all too true A good exposure on a subject well hidden. That's why I continue to advocate for children, their voice is very small. Your poem is full of compassion and understanding for both sides, Excellent

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
