4 burgers for a $1.00

somewhere in the faded summer days
snowflakes come by the millions.....warp speed
at the speed limit we spy proof that even deer
should look both ways.
in the growing cold a lake gives up the warmth
stored in its blue soul, above the lake the warm and cold
made a puffy cloud with a dark soul.....fear
and wonder catches in me .....i should thank some pure light
being of good but all i can think of is a sign
i read once on a endless highway in front of a broke
down gas station......4 burgers for a $1.00

It strike me to the bones. I drove through Utah this summer and have seen thows deserted places, broken gas station, rusted signs. I can not imagin snow there. or this snow was some where else? Does not metter... It is very good poem.

i love this piece ... i'm very choosy about titles, until i get to know the poet's work, lol :) since this was a random piece chosen from the homepage, you had me there to get me here, and brought new glimpses around every corner of every line ... nice alliteration "speed limit we spy proof" ... and nice connections throughout ... and just beautiful sense of place ... thx for the post!

Sounds like a nice place where your grandkids can play and eat a cheeseburger. Nice Job.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
