Your non-seeing sight

Your non-seeing sight

I saw you today, but you didn’t see me.

Funny how that always works out.

We stopped, exchanged pleasantries and said we would get together to catch up soon

We lied.

We both knew it but neither of us said it.

Instead, I SAW YOU today…but you didn’t see me.

I have always seen through you so I could see your pain, detect it like a missile and thus choose to stay away--but today I saw you and you DIDN’T see me!

Didn’t see me the way you hadn’t seen me throughout our history.

Perhaps I held too many expectations of you

Perhaps I wanted you to read between the lines and seldomly just told you what was there

 I didn’t think I needed to

My thoughts, my feelings…emotions were not the boogie man under the bed. They were the buried treasure you told me you were after—how come you never found them? I tried to tell you

…my heart wonders at the validity of those words

but I did.

I hoped that you would knock down my defenses, that we would get there

but we never did.

Today, as always, I saw you.

Today, as always, you didn’t see me.

In the movie "Avatar", the Navi had a way of greeting each other. "I see you." My husband and I agree that this is a better greeting than others because it says what you said so well in your poem. I love the finishing two lines and the way the emphasize the poem's meaning.

i liked it.. the craving for good love...is explicit in this .. nice

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
