Poem Commentary

School assignment- Shakespeare sonnet in iambic pentameter.

You

I look into your eyes  and see oceans,
Swirling striations of green, brown, and blue,
And in those depths I see thoughts, emotions-
In those incredible eyes, I see you.

I see your laugh, your smile, how warm you are,
The dimples that crease your cheeks when you grin,
The gleam in your eye I see from so far
I compare my smile to yours- and you win.

I note your confidence, your grace, your walk-
Your shoulders give a nonchalant shrug-
The way your face shines with light when you talk-
How you wrap you arms around me to hug.

My thoughts circle you, but you do not see.
Sometimes I wonder though- do you see me?

Wow i like that. This seems really well thought out. Its amazing. At least i think it is

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
