    You Think You Know Me

you think you know me. you think you know who I really am.

you think you understand me. you think you can see through my master plans.

when I smile, do you see it touch my eyes?

when I laugh, can you tell if its real or a lie?

you think you know me but your not even close!!

I'm never a step ahead, I'm always a foot at most.

when I grin, can you see the devil's hidden pride?

when I smirk, can you tell what's really inside?

you MIGHT think you know me, but your not that wise.

you MIGHT think you know me, but you don't know what lies behind my eyes

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
