    You Held The key

I had closed the door upon my heart
    And wouldn't let anyone in,
I had trusted and loved only to be hurt
But, that would never happen again.

I had locked the door and tossed the key
As hard, and as far as I could,
Love would never enter there again,
My heart was closed for good.

Then you came into my life
And made me change my mind,
Just when I thought that tiny key
    was impossible to find.

That's when you held out your hand
And proved to me I was wrong,
Inside your palm was the key to my heart...
    You had it all along.

I like this poem....No matter how hard we try to shut love out it always finds its way back into our heart.

I admire this poem as it is a pure masterpiece of a fine work of art. This is very deep and from the heart as any reader will realize for themselves. Please be careful for the friends that you add because they will never even read your work. It is a shame when we add friends to the top and they don't even glance-review or comment on your work. Just beware. http://alejabennett.net84.net

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
