Work the Rut
Everyday I tap my snooze
Twice but even so I lose
More sleep because I say up late
A work night doesn't set me straight
A robot driving into war
On monday it's a another tour
I'm striving but I'm going nowhere
Just make it through the fiscal year
Another brick is all I am
A faceless mass of bone and jam
Oh in my mind I'm so enlightened
But to the Man I'm slight and frightened
I live to work and work to live
I take but not more than I give
I make them dough and take my cut
The best I can, I work the rut.
Twice but even so I lose
More sleep because I say up late
A work night doesn't set me straight
A robot driving into war
On monday it's a another tour
I'm striving but I'm going nowhere
Just make it through the fiscal year
Another brick is all I am
A faceless mass of bone and jam
Oh in my mind I'm so enlightened
But to the Man I'm slight and frightened
I live to work and work to live
I take but not more than I give
I make them dough and take my cut
The best I can, I work the rut.
