    Poem Commentary

Poem composed in 2002 for TN

    Wishes

I wish that I could reach out and touch you
help you want to love again,
    hold you close to me
so close, our breath is one
kiss your lips, and touch your eyes
    ignite your passion
    start a fire

I wish I could crawl inside your soul
know the you that lives inside
feelings that you know are there
    those you try to hide

    I wish I could spend
    starry nights with you
    awaken to your kisses
    our skies forever blue

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
