    Wine

Perhaps I will tarry on a glass of home made cherry.

If that is not enough, I will drink some other stuff.

I have here some white Chablis and Sauvignon.

I’ll drink them both, they’re not that strong.

Then there’s pink Rose and red Bordeaux.

I’ll have one of each, I love them so.

Why do my words begin to slur?

Is it some malady I incur?

You may think I lost my mind.

That’s not true, I just drink wine.

So I like them all, white and red.

I just like wine ... enough said.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
