    When you sleep

Your soul whispers to mine in the
    middle of the night.

I breathe in your  silent words as they reach the air around me.

You move and gently brush your hand on
my arm sending butterflies soaring inside
    me

You sigh a sweet song of melody that only
    I can hear

You are amazing when you sleep

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
