We Still Remain the Same

We Still Remain the Same

Days don’t seem like they used too

Things we get used too, don’t seem useful no more

Promises we live by have passed us by so swiftly

Suddenly everything has changed right before our eyes

And we still remain the same ……. We still remain the same….

Do we see things coming or we choose to close our eyes

Do we at time just stand still and let it all pass us by

Things that scares us the most are the things we face too often

It changes everything around us …..

And we still remain the same …… we still remain the same …..

We feel time and again, pain filled with sorrow

The feeling we have lost along the way

New ones we have learned to embrace

Love has a new name ….. Feelings have changed

And we still remain the same …. We still remain the same ……

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
