    WAVES OF MY SOUL

The waves are calling your name
    Pulling me closer to shore
As the moon glistens on the waters so bright
Your name speaks to me even more
I hear you calling-calling me to you
But I hesitate because I’m not sure what I should do
Here I go jumping in feet first
Wondering if this is right or a sign of my rebirth
Is it him or is it me
Maybe we just weren’t meant to be
Friendship is all I wanted but the tides moved in
Crashing on the sand saying this is no time to expand
Floating on the waves ever so slight
Giving me a sense of false security letting me know in the end it wasn’t right
Floating to and fro with my heart in tow
Giving you the benefit of the doubt just wanting you to know
Is this real, were you real, and was it what it was suppose to be
Feelings of confusion and non-understanding just mocking me
Am I destined to ever reach land?
Or is it here on this water I must try to stand
I see land yet so far away
With each wave telling me today is not the day
Floating and thinking, thinking and floating
Why has the water become home for me?
The illusions of land seeming closer to thee
Telling me I’m not ready to be boldly
I’m yelling why, why, why, but nobody can hear me
The softness of the waves speaking to me telling me that land is near for me
All you have to do is see clearly, see what I see
And then land will be home to thee
Finally adhering to the soft spoken-ness of the waves
I at last saw clearly that I always had it in me to see
As I drifted closer to land before my feet touch the sand
One last time the waves said to me in your life you must take a stand
