Vintage Vines

I have walked
and been walled
in the garden
of my own dreams,
stopping to view
flowers and thorns along the way
smelling the
honeysuckle and the hyacinths
the roses and the rue.

I know the weeds
need to be tended
and dug up,
but just for today
I’ll let them be
as I’ve done before
in my life.
