To Be Whole Again

  • shhhh! If you're quiet you will hear the sound of my heart breaking.

To Be Whole Again

I refuse to remain broken and shattered.

I will be whole again, body, mind and soul.
I finally realized that my happiness is what truly matters.
You once were my prince and now I see you're a troll.

The hands that once were tender are tender no more.
The touch I once craved, now makes me cringe in terror!
A smack, a punch, a kick to the face, "No more!"
Some say when I said yes to our first date was my first error.

My heart fears the mere thought of a new love.
A love I hope would bring pure delight.
Such as the love of flight of a turtle dove,
I want my heart not to be filled with fright.

Those words that once cut me to the core cannot touch me anymore.
My healing began as I walked out the door.

Again wow, I see myself in this poem. I had to go through the healing too and it was tough but our toughest times make us better people. I feel your pain hun, I love the way you express yourself. HUGS

My work comes from my heart. Some are personal experiences and other are not. To the reader tho I hope they feel as if they are my experiences.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
