to a young man, about to embark on a new life
tentatively, you have said goodbye, hoping she knew you that was a lie.
stealthily, you hoped for one last glance
of one thing to miss, a beautiful countenance
she with the delicate face, fragile porcelain
silky to the touch, welcome it like rain
that falls after a long dry spell -
you'd want to remember her so well
and yet as yet you are unsure,
God, there is so much to endure!
tomorrow, tomorrow, you will be gone
what lies ahead, to someone woebegone
this restless soul, feels, reels
in the power beneath her tiny heels -
she is like the goddess on the pedestal
while you, young man, are but a neanderthal
less of a mortal, no beast nor god
and yet, must you to survive plod.
tentatively, you turned your back
hoping she knew you are about to pack.
