    Poem Commentary

Life used to be perfect and innocent. Years pass, and then you come to know what is really there.

    "There" Used to be "Here"

It was once upon a time when all I could see were smiles,
Running...holding hands when I over there was a child.
used to think that the whole world would be kind,
But then my senses came into present time.

The world's at war to win the fight,
Families don't forget how to cry.
Nights are cold and the dark sky shadows the whole world-
The world that used to make me happy there.

WHere is the light that used to shine?
When dark rain would cleanse our souls,
Or dark skies simply blanket us in the cold.
...Where is "here" that used to stand beside me.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
