    There once was....

There once was a time in my life
    when everthing was good
where on my own two feet
    I once stood
    Where the sun was bright
    and no rain would fall
and a home filled with happiness
    my own, I could call
    Where joy filled the rooms
    and laughter filled the air
    where there were no fears
and in this world not a care
    but with one wrong choice
    I ruined it all
Now the sky is filled with darkness
and the rains about to fall
There are no sounds of laughter
    only sounds of tears
and a home once filled with happiness
only now to be filled with fears
    On my own two feet
     I no longer stand
    and no where around
    a helping hand

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
