The World Ended
we grew up in sunny hills,we laughed and played till dusk, sat together at school,we argued we fought, baseball in our favorite lot, high school we bounced on through, took a year off from college traveled around, we stopped and ate in several towns, true love would come one at a time, but I knew in my heart, we would always be fine, love came a calling to me in my prime, my friend and I were lost in time.things change and move in different ways, alone again, my head in a daze
but you were there to comfort me,my friend, we were finally together again
as we talked about our crazy past and the loves we had never last
conversations of the world we knew, politics, music, sports, beers at the bar
cruising downtown, in his favorite car, much older now, priorities change
checkers awaits away from the rain, bowling till 10 laughing at our score
coffee and donuts at out favorite store,
I called him that morning, let the phone ring, walked on down to knock on his door, landlord told me he"s not here anymore, last night there was a very loud
sound, by the time she got there he was heaven bound,
I stood and thought my friend is gone, the world ended for him but I must go on,mind racing through the past my friend and I we thought it would last
to early my friend you leave me here.
my world has ended without you near
my world has ended without my close friend
my world has ended until then
when my friend and I are together again.
