Poem Commentary

Love isn't just love. It does not exist to feed your heart alone but must feed your soul.

The Vampire's Within Us

my heart was tattered and torn
My good nature was completely worn
My faith had died and disappeared
I was lost in the dark, alone and scared

Then a door in my life opened
and a light filled the room
You took me by the hand
and led me out of my tomb

What wanderful woman could look at me
deep into my soul so dark she'll see
In the bottom there sits a small spark of life
Pinned in the corner wounded by a knife

Softly she spoke, calming my nerves
Not even worried about what she deserves
She bound my wounds and took me in
Together day by day OUR lives begin

I don't know where she came from
From heaven I have been told
All I know is when she was born
They surely broke the mold

I hope that I may live up to what she needs
Being like me its her soul that she feeds
Like a vampire we hunger deep down inside
To feed on other doesn't work we've tried

But because we are the one in the same
She shall have me just by calling my name
Into her loving arms we will become one
To love away the night till the morning sun

Yes she has transformed me
She has saved my soul
She has turned me sacred
Changing my eternal role

So used to giving her and I
Never receiving even when we try
Now to each other we give and receive
And fulfill the hunger on each other we'll feed

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
