The Unconditional Reward

I surely didn't want to go but I've learned the most amazing thing, I'm sitting here beside you and it always stays this way.

I can see the Rainbow Bridge from here and I'm told I've earned the right to run and jump and play and romp anytime I like.

I can feel our love surrounding me and I hope you can feel it to, for I could only have been who I turned out to be because the Lord blessed me with you.

Always remember how tall I am and place your hand just there. My head will rush to fill the space with the faintest whisper of my hair.

Though you can no longer feel my breath on your face, know in your heart I'm in the same place.

When stories are told or pictures shared it will be clearly remembered how deeply we cared.

Thank you for sharing your life with me, oh I do love you so and the very best part of now for me is that there is no place that I can not go.

So let's get going, there are horizons to expand and anytime you need me ~ just lower your right hand.

The rhythm and substance of this poem are superb; the emotion is well-captured. Very nice!

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
