    The Spirit of Forgiveness

Sometimes the chip on my shoulder
is far heavier than the cross
    I've had to bear.

    As our world keeps growing
    smaller and smaller,
    some are still saying
    that "life isn't fair."

But the truth ringing within me
is that is never hurts to care.
    Oh, Spirit of forgiveness
it is your life I long to share.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
