The Sand in The Glass
As life grows always shorter,
so do the sands of time.
Crystallizing all of your memories,
inside a capsule of fragile minds.
Each grain of sand recalls
the days of life which have passed.
And remembering every grain of sand
slows the time that goes so fast.
Do you remember all of your yesterdays
and the tomorrows that have come and gone?
Do you recall the days shortened by nights,
and nights which lasted too long?
Can you remember smiling so brightly,
that the sun gave way to the glory?
Can you remember being so happy
you shared the memory as a story?
Insied a glass of morbid mortality,
would you remember each crystal clear?
In your search for everlasting life
would you remember year for year?
The sands of time fall freely
with a glimmer from every grain.
In time the top will empty,
but the glimmers from the sands remain.
Again I turn the glass over
to start the spill anew,
and remember the life you shared with me,
as the sand in the glass falls through.
