    The Rage Within

Emotions run rampant, seething and writhing beneath the surface. With every beat my heart pumps the thick red darkness through my veins, screaming to be let out, it courses through me, pushing me, driving my madness till all that's left of me is withered and torn. The darkness creeps in, infectious and corrosive, eating away at my very soul. It is pain and hate and anger, sorrow and loss, trying to punch through the steel walls within, breathing in the smoke and fire of my self-condemnation. The sheer wretchedness that is in me, but no one sees, begging and pleading to be set free.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
