The Longest Eight Seconds

The Longest Eight Seconds

1600 pounds of fury
It's a bull named Lucifer's Pride
It's the longest eight seconds of my life
I'm hoping for a qualifying ride.

From Biloxi, to Reno
From Tulsa to Cheyenne.
I cowboy up through the pain
To give it all I can.

I'm looking for a ninety
Before I taste the dirt.
Some may think I'm crazy
To me, this is just work.

It's only eight seconds
But it can change my life.
I can take home a paycheck
Or be in the hospital tonight.

To throw me from it's back
The bull will buck and twist.
I say a prayer when they pull that gate
I know my life, I risk.
