    The Eternal Optimist

    The Eternal Optimist
Sees the blue of the sky, in the eye of the storm.
Sees the beauty that once was, in a face that’s worn
    And tired.

So tired I close my eyes.
Try to sleep through what I hope I won’t see.
Try to climb to the top of an infinite hill,
no hope, no sign but still,

    I move
    onward and upward despite,
    The wounds that won’t heal
The tears in my eyes that can’t be wiped away just swallowed

    mmmmm Salty and sweet,
    the defeat, the deceit
    The love the lies,
    the ties that bind
    My life to his.

I want to burn, to break, to chop, to sever
    But never,
Will I be rid of his chains

So I look for the best,
    In his cold caress,
    See the glimmer,
Refuse to admit its getting dimmer.

    No effort, no remorse,
    He thinks the source,
    Is external,
    and the optimist a villain.
The children no longer his concern
    2 more bridges he’s burned

    No effort, no remorse,
    The pessimist thinks the source
    is external.

    The optimist won’t budge,
The smile glued to her face, grin and bare it,
    The burden the blame
    she won’t share it,

    But the burden is his.

    The blame he owns

The optimist forces herself to believe, every movement shows,
    Hope
    But the pessimist isn’t moving
Their just Hallucinations she finds soothing,

    The pessimist bites the hand,
The optimist says "its not that bad",

The logical watch from the wings,
    trying to pull the strings,
    but the pessimist won’t budge,

    No effort, no remorse
He’s convinced the source of this pain is external

    The optimist, she’s broken
The smile glued to her face,
She can only grin and bare it
The burden the blame the pain and now the shame she won’t share it.

really great write I liked the flow and unique style. well done.-tonya

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
