The End
As far as any eye could see, black fog covered the earth.
Smothering the barren wasteland, leaving it scorched, without worth.
When the haze had lifted, the ground was flat and cursed.
Stone markers were protruding; the clouds like dreams had burst.
It was the end with no beginning, no place to warm the bones.
Whose existence had come full circle, they’d remain cold and alone.
The ashen, weary sky mirrored the grave below.
Without life, death was rampant, evil and slow.
All was lost, life dissolved; only the dust remained;
No one knew who lost the war or what there was to gain.
As darkness covered the sphere, only desolation lived on.
Long after the disintegration of the remaining putrescence was gone.
In life the prisoners drug around their incessant ball and chains.
It was the price for their existence to never escape their pain.
Death hovered over the horizon; like a warden, it held the keys.
It consumed both good and evil, no one was safe or free.
As far as any ear could hear, all sound had ceased to be.
The moon turned black;the end ensued; captives confined eternally.
