    the african pride

    the african queen,
    queens to all africans,
    common women,
    with uncommon values and virtues,
beauty from the break of dawn,
    valour with honour,
    cursed with love,
glimmering like a spike of pearl and silver,
    born to teach,
    they invigorate a man,
make him bless the very day
    he qiut bachelorhood,
    theirs,
    became stories,
    stories became legend,
    legend became a myth,
    and all,
    embraced by culture,
    theirs became pride,
    the african pride.

good poem! i like that you pointed to differences within one culture, as many liken a whole culture to a certain type of person.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
