    Text Messages

    By: Angela Ewing
    In Memory of
    Billy Kuykendall

Texting is a thing of mine,
I do it most all the time.
When you were here you did too,
Texting me, then me to you.

So many” I love you” and “I miss you,”
The” you’re special” and “I can’t wait to see you”.
With each text message that was new,
You expressed your love for me, and I to you.
But the words expressed in the text never compared
To the love that we truly shared.

Oh, but little did we know what was in store,
That the night would come when the texting would be no more.
God had a better plan for you,
A life in Heaven, brand new.
So here I am all alone
No more texting to your phone.

There are so many things I want to say,
If only text messages could come your way

I’d tell you again I love you so much,
And how long I long for your tender touch.
I’d tell you that you still hold the key to my heart,
And that it saddens me that we had to part.

Oh, how much you are missed.
I wish for just one more kiss.
I’d tell you how you were the center of my life,
And to answer your question, “yes” I would be your wife.

There are so many things I want to say,
If only text messages could come your way.

There’s a deep pain in my heart,
    Because of your sudden depart.
And my selfish nature wants you here,
To hold so close and dear.

But now you’re in a better place,
And you get to look upon God’s amazing face.
You have no more hurt and no more pain
And in Heaven you have much to gain.
God’s will for you here on Earth was done,
Now you’re with the Angels having fun.

Right now my world seems a little black
But I would not wish to have you back.
Now you are in a great place
And that brings a smile to my face.

I don’t know how long it will be
But you just wait and see
One day I’ll be there with you too
To walk the streets of gold with you.

    But until that very day
Know that there are many things I want to say
If only text messages could come your way.

    Billy, I love you!

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
