Sound Of Death
Sound Of Death
Sweet sound of death
Hear my battle cry
I go not quietly
Into your dark embrace
With loves music to warm me
The breath of life is mine to share
I will battle with every ounce
That I have to spare
I watched my love fight you every night
Nothing I could do was right
Laying wasted away in the bed
Yet he was still the man I loved
I waited until he could take no more
He was fighting because he worried for me
I sat at his side, whispered in his ear
It is okay my darling love
You earned your rest, you did your best
Do not hold on to pain for me
Your spirit is free to fly home
Though in a coma,I saw a tear fall
And for just a moment
I saw my love shining back at me
He had heard my words
No one can ever tell me otherwise
I sat with him for eight hours
Still he hung on to life's sweet embrace
Being exhausted and heart sick
I took my leave to get some rest
As I walked in the door
The phone was ringing
I knew,before I answered it
Ten minutes after I had left
He had simply and quietly,died
No plugs had been pulled
He had spared me that decision
That was the kind of man he was
Even in his final moments
It's as if he was thinking of me
Our love and our time together and
Decided it was time to set me free
